Walk Against War and The Weapons Of War

What truly constitutes national security? Certainly not war or nuclear weapons. The Russia/Ukraine conflict is a compelling argument for the elimination of all nuclear weapons. WAMM has repeatedly called for banning these weapons and for major cuts in the military budget; however, the budget continues to grow by leaps and bounds. The military budget was $180 billion in 1982, it is $778 billion in 2022.

This bloated budget is unconscionable given the serious problems facing our country. And the massive U.S. arsenal and forces deployed worldwide are powerless against the grave, nonmilitary threats to national security – from the pandemic to the fact that tens of millions of Americans struggle to pay for food, housing and health care. Let’s put a stop to this madness!
