Fran Shor is author of “Passages of Rebellion,” a work of historical and political fiction that takes place for much of the story in Minneapolis during the years 1967-1970. The focus is on the anti-war and anti-draft activities of the protagonist, Frank Goodman. Moving back and forth in time, the novel not only highlights the turmoil of that period, but also it moves through two generations into the present. Using a variety of passages from the works of Albert Camus, James Baldwin, and Andrea Dworkin, among others, the novel explores questions of violence, from the international to the domestic sphere.

Fran Shor was an an antiwar activist and draft resister during his time as a grad student at the University of Minnesota. He is Emeritus Professor, History, Wayne State University and author of 5 nonfiction books, including “Dying Empire: US Imperialism and Global Resistance” (Routledge 2010) and “Weaponized Whiteness” (Haymarket 2020).
