Ongoing and escalating violence by settlers\, while not new\, has reached unprecedented heights and the involvement of Israeli military and security forces in those attacks has gotten more exposure than ever before. Israel’s own radically right-wing government has escalated military attacks as well\, with the attack on Jenin in June highlighting a growing understanding that Israel is\, at best\, disregarding Palestinian lives. Yet despite Israel’s escalating violence and its de facto annexation of much of the West Bank\, mainstream congressional Democrats have doubled down on their support for Israel while the Biden administration has accelerated efforts to broker a normalization agreement between Israel and Saudi Arabia. I will discuss the implications of all of these factors and how they are connected.Mitchell Plitnick\, a political analyst and writer\, is the president of ReThinking Foreign Policy.  He is the author\, with Marc Lamont Hill\, of Except for Palestine: The Limits of Progressive Politics. Mitchell’s previous positions include vice president at the Foundation for Middle East Peace\, Director of the US Office of B’Tselem: The Israeli Information Center for Human Rights in the Occupied Territories\, and Co-Director of Jewish Voice for Peace. DESCRIPTION:Stop the War\, Save the Climate \nFriday\, November 11th at 1:00pm \n1200 Washington Ave S.\, Minneapolis MN  \nArmistice Day Bannering!\n\nThis year following our traditional Bell ringing event Veterans for Peace National is reclaiming Armistice Day as a day to strive to truly end war and address the climate crisis with bold direct action in at least a dozen cities across the US.\n\nFor VFP Chapter 27\, we will gather in front of Amy Klobuchar’s office at 1:00 p.m. at 1200 Washington Ave So in Minneapolis and deliver a statement listing items we would like her to endorse related to Militarism and the Climate. We will hold banners and signs calling attention to the U.S. Military’s contribution to the Climate Crisis.\n\nThis bannering is part of a national effort by VFP’s “Stop the War\, Save the Climate” and Climate Crisis and Militarism working groups.\n\nPlease bring your concern and energy to this event.\n\nCosponsored by WAMM’s Military Madness Against the Earth (EMMAE) Committee.

DESCRIPTION:Reclaim Armistice Day \nFriday\, November 11th at 10:00am \n33rd & Xerxes Ave N to 45th & York Ave N.\, Minneapolis MN \nWALK to Victory Memorial Monument 10:00 a.m.\n\nPROGRAM at the Victory Memorial Monument 10:30 a.m.\n\nThis event will be live-streamed on this Facebook page.\n\nVeterans For Peace will conduct its yearly Reclaim Armistice Day remembrance service honoring the WW I Armistice that was to be the war to end all wars and was signed on November 11\, 1918. This year we will gather at the World War I Victory Memorial Monument on Victory Memorial Drive.\n\nFor those up for a one-mile walk\, the event begins at 10:00 a.m. We will walk from 33rd & Xerxes Ave N along Victory Memorial Drive to the Memorial at 45th & York Av N.\n\nAt 10:30\, the program will begin at the monument and will include words from president Dave Logsdon and Steve McKeown and music from Native flutist Darren Thompson (who has been nominated for a Native American Music Award). The Bell Ringing will be at 11 a.m.\, (the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month) followed by Darren playing taps.

Come hear from Dozthor Zurlent\, Venezuelan activist and former Hugo Chavez advisor\, who is touring the US about what the people of Venezuela are building and what the US is doing to undermine the Bolivarian process.\n\nInformation about our speaker: Dozthor Zurlent believes that solidarity among people and countries is a fundamental aspect of what makes us humans. As such\, he has been working\, since he was only a teenager\, in solidarity committees and organizations to support the struggle of the people in Cuba\, Nicaragua\, El Salvador\, Palestine\, and other important struggles of the people of the world. But he also has participated in the liberation struggle of Venezuela\, his birth country.\n\nAt the beginning of the century\, he started working as a political adviser to former Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez\, on topics related to Latin America\, the United States and Europe. At the time\, he was also in charge of organizing and coordinating Bolivarian Circles and Venezuelan Solidarity Committees in North America and Europe. Dozthor has written articles and essays for a variety of English online publications and for Spanish newspapers and news websites.\n\nHe is a frequent face in Telesur\, ANTV and VTV. For almost 10 years\, he produced and directed radio programs on Venezuelan National Radio and YVKE Mundial Los Andes Radio. He also often appears in “La Radio del Sur” Radio station.
