SUMMARY:Keep Space for Peace Week 2024
DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, October 5 – Saturday\, October 12\, 2024Stop Using Space for Genocide and War \nSpace is now key to fighting global wars as space tech coordiantes all war on the ground\, in the sea and in the air. The gap between the commercial and military sectors is purposely being ‘blurred’ as the US-NATO attempt to fill up remaining orbital parking slots for satellites before China and Russia can put more satellites in Lower Earth Orbit (LEO). \nHow are we to pay the enormous cost of dominating space … building launch sites\, satellites\, drones and missiles? \nUS-NATO space tech is playing a leading role in the wars in Ukraine and the genocidal Zionist war in Palestine. The twin infants killed along with their doctor mom in Gaza in August are believed to have been targeted by Israel using Google’s AI Project Numbus. \nThis year during space4peace week we wish to highlight the unprecedented role of satellite technology in targeted killings in Gaza and beyond. \nThanks for all you can do!

SUMMARY:The Indian System
DESCRIPTION:WAMM Second Monday Movie October 14\,2024\, 7:00pm. 4200 Cedar Ave S Minneapolis MN \n“On November 11\,1865\, Medicine Bottle and Little Six were hanged at Fort Snelling\, marking the end of the Dakota in Minnesota. This is their story. Historian David A Nichols PhD explains how the United States government’s “Indian System” was not designed to protect Indians. It had its roots in the growth of the white population and an aggressive culture bent on the acquisition of material wealth. It was therefore “a system to serve white men” not Native Americans. This film is dedicated to the memory of the Dakota 38 plus 2.” \nDirector: Sheldon Wolfchild I Historian: David A. SUMMARY:Vigil to End War
DESCRIPTION:The Vigil to End War is sponsored by the WAMM End War Committee (EWC). \nThe EWC is dedicated to ending U.S. involvement in war\, the threats of war\, and the production\, sale and use of the weapons of war. \nPlease wear a mask and maintain social distance! \nEvery Wednesday at the the Lake Street/Marshall Avenue Bridge \n4:00 pm – 5:00 pm (After April 3\, 2024 – 5:00-6:00 PM) \nSigns provided or bring your own. Check the WAMM calendar and Facebook events pages for special themes for the day! \nSponsored by the End War Committee \nIn 1999\, WAMM’s End War Committee partnered with other local activist groups to initiate a weekly vigil on the Lake Street and Marshal Avenue bridge in St.Paul. Originally in response to the U.S. and NATO bombings in Yugoslavia\, the vigil has continued weekly with different U.S. sanctions\, interventions\, and wars to protest. Every Wednesday for over 20 years—rain\, shine or below zero temps—activists in the Twin Cities have gathered to stand in solidarity with all those affected by U.S. militarism and to call for peace.

SUMMARY:Demonstration to Indict Blinken
DESCRIPTION:Thursday\, October 17\, 2024\, 12:00 pm\, The Diana E. Murphy Federal Courthouse\, 300 South 4th Street\, Minneapolis MN\, 55415 \n  \nIndict Antony Blinken! \nOn May 24\, 2024\, Secretary of State Antony Blinken reported to Congress\, “We do not currently assess that the Israeli government is prohibiting or otherwise restricting the transport of U.S. humanitarian assistance”. This\, in spite of the fact that both the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the State Department Bureau for Population\, Refugees\, and Migration (PRM) had reached precisely the opposite conclusion in formal written reports. They concluded that Israel was systematically denying and blocking humanitarian food and medical assistance to Gaza in violation of U.S. foreign aid laws. Although both assessments had been submitted to Secretary Blinken in April of 2024\, neither was mentioned in Blinken’s May report to Congress. By concealing the USAID and PRM reports\, Secretary Blinken deceived Congress\, an apparent violation of the Material False Statement law which prohibits falsification or concealment of material facts orally or in writing to the U.S. Congress. \n Join Veterans For Peace to Demand the Indictment of Antony Blinken! \nWhere: The Diana E. Murphy Federal Courthouse\, 300 South 4th Street\, Minneapolis MN\, 55415. \nWhen: Thursday\, October 17\, 2024 at noon. \nHow: By demonstrating in front on the Federal Courthouse\, and hand delivering a formal letter to U.S. Attorney Andrew Luger whose office lies therein\, we will demand that the U.S. Department of Justice impanel a grand jury to investigate criminal violations of federal laws governing the provision of weapons and munitions to Israel as it commits genocide in Palestine. Stop the Deceit! Stop Providing Weapons to Israel! Stop the Genocide! Never Again Means Never Again for Anyone! \n  \nNot able to attend the demonstration? Please call U.S. Attorney Andrew Luger @ 612-664-5600 to demand an investigation into Antony Blinken for deceiving Congress in the furtherance of genocide. Initiated by Veterans For Peace Chapter 27.

SUMMARY:Til Kingdom Come Film Screening
DESCRIPTION:Thursday\, October 24\, 2024\, 5:30-8:30 PM\, Holy Trinity Lutheran Church (in the Bartsch Room)\, 2730 E 31st St\, Mpls\, MN \nWAMM along with MN Christians for Free Palestine and Holy Trinity Lutheran will be hosting a showing of the documentary ‘Til Kingdom Come in the Bartsch Room at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church (2730 E. 31 St.\, Minneapolis\, 55406)\, from 5:30 to 8:30pm.\n\nThrough extensive interviews with Israel-supporting pastors in the southern US and the Jewish Israeli director of the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews\, ‘Til Kingdom Come takes a deep look at the ties between Christian Zionist congregations in the US and the Israeli government.\n\nWe think this film is an important one for Christian and Christian-lineage people to see as we learn more about our own ancestral and cultural ties to the ongoing Israeli genocide in Gaza. There will be food provided and a facilitated discussion after the documentary showing.\nCo-sponsored by WAMM\, Holy Trinity\, and MN Christians for Free Palestine.

SUMMARY:Rally to Close Monticello Nuclear Plant!
DESCRIPTION:Thursday\, November 21\, 2024\, 4:00-5:00 PM\, Xcel Energy\, 401 Nicollet Mall\, Minneapolis\, MN \nUPCOMING RALLY ✊☮️🌎! Close Monticello Nuclear Plant! \nWe oppose Xcel Energy’s request to extend\, for 20 more years\, the current operating license of Monticello Nuclear Generating Plant. The plant on the Mississippi River\, 35 miles northwest of Minneapolis\, is 53 years old\, already among the three oldest in the United States. Recent radioactive leaks at the reactor pose serious threats to public health\, the Mississippi River\, and drinking water for millions. \nTell Xcel to shut down the ancient Monticello Nuclear Generating Plant! \nOrganized by Coalition For a Nuclear-Free Mississippi River\, WAMM\, and Indigenous Earth Protectors \n++++++++++++++++++++++++++ \n⚠️ Sign the Petition to Demand 2030 Monticello Nuclear Reactor Closure ⚠️ \nPlease take one minute to sign a petition demanding to keep the Monticello Nuclear Reactor’s 2030 closure date as Xcel Energy seeks to run its 53 year-old reactor for another 20 years! \nA massive leak at the reactor in 2022 released radioactivity into the Mississippi River and contaminated the groundwater beneath the reactor with levels of radioactive tritium 250 times greater than the EPA’s safe drinking water limit. \nPlease share this widely. Help us reach one million signatures by the end of this year\, before the Minnesota Public Utilities Commission issues its decision to keep this reactor operating! \nSign the petition at MoveOn.org: https://sign.moveon.org/petitions/petition-for-a-nuclear-free-mississippi-river \nAdditional resources and sources can be found at: SavetheMississippi.com and nukewatchinfo.org. To join the coalition contact Kelly at nukewatchinfo.org \n++++++++++++++++++++

SUMMARY:MNAAC & CANMN's Diaper Drive + Fundraiser
DESCRIPTION:Friday\, November 22\, 2024\, 6:00 – 9:00 PM\, Lucy Parsons Center\, 4100 28th Ave S\, Minneapolis\, MN \nJoin us for a diaper drive and fundraiser with @communityaidnetworkmn ! \n🗓️ Friday\, November 22nd\n⏰ 6:00-9:00pm\n📍 Lucy Parsons Center\, 4100 28th Ave S\, Mpls \nWhile Crisis Pregnancy Centers claim to offer material support such as childcare and diapers\, we know that these services are often contingent on religious-based counseling. They want to lure people in the door so they can spread their anti-abortion message. \nIn MNAAC\, we believe everyone should have the resources they need to raise children in dignity — no strings attached. Help support orgs like CANMN who are providing real material support as we fight for reproductive justice for all! Organized by MN Abortion Action Committee and Community Aid Network\, sponsored by FAMM
