SUMMARY:FROM GENOCIDE IN GAZA TO DECOLONIZING PALESTINE: TOWARDS A DEMOCRATIC STATE FOR ALL BETWEEN THE RIVER AND THE SEA
DESCRIPTION:Sunday\, July 7\, 3:00\, Carondelet Village\, 525 Fairview Ave. S.  St.Paul  \n  \nEven as the genocide in Gaza continues\, the US and Europe are plotting with Saudi Arabia to “normalize” Israel’s place in the region\, leaving the Palestinians trapped in the tiny enclaves of Israel’s apartheid regime forever. While our attention and hearts are focused on Gaza\, we civil society actors cannot abandon the wider fight for Palestinian rights and a better future for everyone between the River and the Sea\, now in a critical phase. \nAs a founding member of the Palestinian-led One Democratic State Campaign (ODSC)\, Jeff will present the ODSC’s program for replacing Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territory with a democratic state with equal rights for all–including the returning refugees. This\, he argues\, is the only substantially just way forward\, but it is strewn with complex and difficult issues that we will discuss; there will be lots of time for discussion. \n  \nAbout Jeff Harper: \nJeff Harper is an Israeli anthropologist\, Director of the Israeli Committee Against House Demolitions (ICAHD) and a founding member of the One Democratic State Campaign program\, and has taught at universities in Israel\, the US\, Latin America\, and Africa. \nJeff has served on the United Nations Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People. In 2008 he sailed into Gaza with the Free Gaza Movement to break the Israeli siege. He was nominated by the American Friends Service Committee for the Nobel Peace Prize\, together with the Palestinian intellectual and militant Hassan Andoni. \nJeff’s latest books are War Against the People: Israel\, the Palestinians and Global Pacification\, which was shortlisted for the Palestine Book Award\, and Decolonizing Israel\, Liberating Palestine: Zionism\, Settler Colonialism and the Case for One Democratic State.

SUMMARY:Power Film Screening
DESCRIPTION:Monday\, July 8\, 2024\, 7:00 pm\, 4200 Cedar Ave S\n\n“In the United States\, police have been granted ex-traordinary power over our individual lives. The police determine who is suspicious and who “fits the description”. They define the threats and decide how to respond… Power traces the accumulation of money\, the consolidation of political power and the nearly unrestricted bipartisan support that has created the institution of policing as we know it. The film offers a visceral and immersive journey to demonstrate how we have arrived at this moment in history.” The profile of Charlie Adams\, a Black Minneapolis police officer\, who is working to re-form policing from within is featured in the film.\nDirector Yance Ford | USA | 2024 | 87 Minutes |Netflix\n\nConnecting the dots…discussionAlways FREE and open to the publicALL ARE WELCOME! Free refreshments!Sponsored by the WAMM Movie Committee

SUMMARY:Vigil to End War
DESCRIPTION:The Vigil to End War is sponsored by the WAMM End War Committee (EWC). \nThe EWC is dedicated to ending U.S. involvement in war\, the threats of war\, and the production\, sale and use of the weapons of war. \nPlease wear a mask and maintain social distance! \nEvery Wednesday at the the Lake Street/Marshall Avenue Bridge \n4:00 pm – 5:00 pm (After April 3\, 2024 – 5:00-6:00 PM) \nSigns provided or bring your own. Check the WAMM calendar and Facebook events pages for special themes for the day! \nSponsored by the End War Committee \nIn 1999\, WAMM’s End War Committee partnered with other local activist groups to initiate a weekly vigil on the Lake Street and Marshal Avenue bridge in St.Paul. Originally in response to the U.S. and NATO bombings in Yugoslavia\, the vigil has continued weekly with different U.S. sanctions\, interventions\, and wars to protest. Every Wednesday for over 20 years—rain\, shine or below zero temps—activists in the Twin Cities have gathered to stand in solidarity with all those affected by U.S. militarism and to call for peace.

Superior St. Duluth \n  \nEven as the genocide in Gaza continues\, the US and Europe are plotting with Saudi Arabia to “normalize” Israel’s place in the region\, leaving the Palestinians trapped in the tiny enclaves of Israel’s apartheid regime forever. \n\n
