On January 22, 2021, two days after Joe Biden was sworn in as the 46th president of the United States, nations around the world celebrated the ratification of the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons. This international treaty makes it illegal to “develop, test, produce, acquire, possess, stockpile, use, or threaten to use nuclear weapons.”
