WAMM Committees

WAMM COMMITTEES

Our Committees are our organization!

Through each committee, we dedicate our time, effort and energy into creating a non-hierarchal organization that works by the people who put forth the effort to create a community that supports justice and peace.

End Domestic Militarism

The EDM action group focuses on issues surrounding militarism in the U.S.—from our militarized police forces to ROTC programs to ICE detention centers. American governance relies on a force and violence-based system of control. EDM rejects this top-down, repressive system of governance and seeks alternative, community-based solutions to community safety.

End Military Madness Against the Earth (EMMAE)

The EMMAE action group aims to raise awareness of harm done by the U.S. military to the environment and thus to all life, and to take action to help reverse destructive U.S. military activity that contributes to the climate crises and environmental collapse worldwide.

End War Committee &
Ban Nuclear Weapons Campaign

The WAMM End War Committee (formerly the WAMM Iraq Committee) is dedicated to ending U.S. involvement in war, the threats of war, and the production, sale and use of the weapons of war.

Families Against Military Madness

Families Against Military Madness (FAMM) welcomes all families with events that include the youngest community members in visible ways. FAMM offers opportunities for children to engage in play and community-building activities that promote justice and liberation for all.

Middle East Committee

The Middle East Committee is action and education-oriented, focused on the U.S. role in various conflicts in the Middle East. MEC draws attention to the unconditional political, economic and military support the U.S. provides to Israel's decades-long illegal and unjust military occupation of Palestine.

Movie Action Group

The Movie Action Group meets virtually via e-mail. We post links to cutting edge and informative movies online. We hope to return to in-person movies on Second Mondays soon.

Solidarity Committee on
the Americas

SCOTA educates about the role of U.S. foreign policy in the military and economic oppression and intervention throughout Latin America and the Caribbean. SCOTA is action-oriented, focusing on challenging U.S. hegemonic policies in the region and supporting the right of self-determination for all.

St. Joan of Arc/
WAMM Peacemakers Committee

The St. Joan of Arc (SJA) / WAMM Peacemakers group is not only a WAMM committee but also a Peace & Justice Ministry at SJA. The group has been gathering at the SJA parish at 4537 3rd Ave. S. in Minneapolis for almost 20 years.

Tackling Torture at the Top

Tackling Torture at the Top (T3) is a committee of WAMM and a group of women and men who work to expose complicity in torture by our country’s decision-makers, and to hold people to account for that complicity so that it does not continue. Furthermore, T3 works to expose the social and political structure that allowed and continues to allow these atrocities to occur.

Standing Committee

Standing Committees regulate and curate the organization of the WAMM as a whole. Board members and members are invited to be involved on as many or few standing committees as they wish.
