17th Annual Walk Against Weapons of War

Rain or shine! Walking for Peace and Justice!
This is the 17th year of the Walk Against Weapons of War. This walk was initially started in 2008 to protest weapons producer Alliant Techsystems, Inc. (ATK). This year our walk takes us past another weapons maker, ForwardEdge ASIC (application specific integrated circuits), a subsidiary of Lockheed Martin Corporation. With record profits (net sales of $67.6 Billion in 2023), Lockheed Martin is a glowing example of the health of our nation’s war machine. Their F-35 fighter jets, sent to Israel, are being used to indiscriminately bomb Palestinian citizens, killing tens of thousands and displacing 90% of the population of Gaza, in violation of international law. Lockheed Martin’s nuclear weapons production and maintenance adds to the clear and present danger of nuclear holocaust. The world-wide use of all weapons increases greenhouse gasses, distributes long-lasting toxins and destroys environmental ecosystems.
WAMM has repeatedly called for the U.S. to STOP sending aid and weapons to Israel. Walk with us to alert the public and let the weapons makers see that their war profiteering is deadly to the citizens of the world and unwelcome in our neighborhood!

11:00 AM: Walk begins to Lockheed Martin (less than 1 mile)
Short rally and return to Langford Park for a short closing ceremony.
