Senator Klobuchar: Take Cuba off the U.S. State Sponsors of Terrorism List!

This listing and sanctions on Cubans causes pain and suffering to the Cuban people. We need to normalize relations with our neighboring country.

The United States under Trump put Cuba on a list of few countries that are designated as State Sponsors of Terrorism. This was after the Obama administration took Cuba off the list because it did not meet the criteria and was an impediment to diplomatic normalization.

The list is used as a way for the US to punish countries that it is in conflict with. Cuba was put on the list by Trump without providing any reasonable justification for doing this.

This designation has harmed the people of Cuba by international financial restrictions that prevent it from rebooting its economy especially after the pandemic, Biden has continued this policy, but he can remove Cuba from the list by a stroke of his pen via an Executive Order.
