WAMM SECOND MONDAY MOVIES PRESENTS
A Force More Powerful: A Century of Nonviolent Conflict
Monday, August 14, 2023 at 7:00 p.m. 4200 Cedar Ave. So., Minneapolis
A Force More Powerful: A Century of Non-violent Conflict is a two part documentary that reveals how one of the 20th Century’s most important, but least understood stories, and tells how millions chose to battle the forces of brutality and oppression with non-violent weapons and won. Tracing how the movements inspired, borrowed from and built on each other, Episode 1 chronicles how Gandhi refines and expands the nonviolent weaponry he discovered in South Africa as he leads India’s campaign for full independence from Britain in the 1930s. It also reveals a new angle on the American Civil Rights Movement in 1960, then returns
full circle to South Africa in the 1980s as activists help dismantle apartheid.
