Hiroshima Ceremony of the Cranes
Sunday, August 6 at 7:30 am
Lyndale Park Peace Garden
4124 Roseway Rd in Minneapolis
The CEREMONY OF THE CRANES (HIROSHIMA COMMEMORATION) has been held at the Lyndale Park Peace Garden since 1985. It begins with music at 7:30 am and pauses for a moment of silence at 8:15 am, the time the bomb was dropped on Hiroshima. Larry Johnson and Elaine Wynne will tell the story of Sadako, the young runner who folded a 1,000 paper cranes for peace. John LaForge of NukeWatch is our keynote speaker. Roger Cuthbertson has composed a new piece, which the “Stringbeans” will perform. Veterans for Peace will ring their bells 11 times to mark the moment of silence.
Please bring your own chair.
