Repeal Minnesota’s Anti-Boycott Laws

Sunday, September 21, 2025, 1:00 PM, Lucy Parsons Center, 4100 28th Ave S, Minneapolis

Presented by Bob Goonin and Lucia. Smith, representing MN BDS Community. In 2017 MN instituted a law that requires individuals and business owners who want to enter into a contract of $50,000 or more with the State of Minnesota to certify they will not boycott the state of Israel. Minnesota joined 36 other states that have such laws. These anti-boycott laws directly violate rights to free speech guaranteed by the US Constitution. Such anti-boycott bills have been used as models to undermine boycotts of fossil fuel, gun manufacturers and more — with just a few minor wording changes. The laws were formulated by ALEC (American Legislative Exchange Council), which crafts legislation to implement ultra-conservative and reactionary goals. After years of organizing efforts to repeal the anti-boycott law, repeal is within reach during the approaching legislative session. The MN BDS community is establishing a citizen-driven campaign encouraging Minnesotans to advocate for our free speech rights. Repeal is possible now!

Learn how to make it happen: You can encourage your legislators to support SF3356 and HF3258 to repeal the anti-boycott law.
