WAMM Second Monday Movie October 14,2024, 7:00pm. 4200 Cedar Ave S Minneapolis MN
“On November 11,1865, Medicine Bottle and Little Six were hanged at Fort Snelling, marking the end of the Dakota in Minnesota. This is their story. Historian David A Nichols PhD explains how the United States government’s “Indian System” was not designed to protect Indians. It had its roots in the growth of the white population and an aggressive culture bent on the acquisition of material wealth. It was therefore “a system to serve white men” not Native Americans. This film is dedicated to the memory of the Dakota 38 plus 2.”
