More info below 👇 \n🗓️Sunday April 21st\n⏰1:00PM\n📍Smith Foundry (28th and Longfellow Ave\, MPLS) \nHOW ISRAEL USES GREENWASHING: \nGreenwashing: the act of framing one’s actions or policies as environmentally friendly — “green” — as a means of concealing some other harm. \nGreenwashing is a tactic used by settler colonies that attempts to deceivingly characterize the genocidal and intrinsically capitalistic annexations of land by occupation forces as “environmentally progressive”. \nIsrael’s exploitation of Palestinian land and resources has locked Palestine into a captive market\, effectively creating an economic relationship rooted in manufactured dependence and cyclical debt. \nThis is especially prevalent in the energy sector in Palestine where Gazans have two sources of electricity: the frequently bombed Gaza Power Plant which depends on fuel—a resource that Israel has substantially restricted access to due to its “dual purpose” categorization—and the Israel Electric Corporation (IEC). \nIsraeli green energy corporations like SolarEdge build solar fields on stolen and illegally occupied Palestinian land to sell to the IEC. Palestinians are forced to depend on Israel for access to their own resources and the global West is deceived into believing that renewable energy sources are being developed from a place of ethical benevolence. \nThe systemic dispossession and exploitation of Palestinian land with resources deemed profitable for the occupation’s endeavors contributes to the de-development of Palestine—worsening conditions for Palestinians and making it increasingly difficult for Palestinians to achieve sovereignty under Israel’s apartheid regime. \nInitiated by Climate Justice Committee and Anti-War Committee. Trump’s Muslim ban (which included Venezuela) made it difficult for Venezuelans to come here and US sanctions have made the situation very difficult for Venezuelans during a global pandemic. Sending folks from MN is an important act of solidarity and will bring back needed information! DESCRIPTION:International Human Rights Day! \nSaturday\, December 10th 2022 at 1:00 PM \n3101 S Bryant Ave\, Minneapolis 55408 \n1pm: Meet at Bryant Square Park with Uptown march to follow. \nThe U.S. uses the language of human rights to justify U.S. intervention in Ukraine and to impose sanctions on Iran\, Venezuela\, and Cuba.\n\nMeanwhile\, the U.S. government continuously refuses to act in support of the basic human rights to education\, healthcare\, housing\, and a live-able planet for our children here at home.\n\nAfter the Supreme Court’s decision overturning Roe v. Wade\, people in the U.S. are also fighting for women’s and reproductive rights.\n\nLastly\, people of color are targeted by police and killed at an outrageous rate in their own communities.\n\nThis comes on top of longstanding U.S. wars and interventions\, which NEVER bring human rights. Instead\, they brutally subject the peoples of the world to occupation and instability while stealing their natural resources and suppressing their rights to self-determination.\n\nWe see it in Palestine\, where the U.S. encourages illegal annexations for Israeli settlers and funds the ongoing war on Palestinians.\n\nJoin with us to demand respect for human rights at home and abroad!\nInitiated by the Anti-War Committee.
