SUMMARY:End the Economic War on Cuba Protest
DESCRIPTION:Monday\, October 28\, 2024\, 4:00 pm\, Minneapolis Federal Building\, 4th St and 4th Ave \nEND THE BLOCKADE NOW! For 32 years the United Nations General Assembly has voted every year\, almost unanimously\, to end the US economic blockade against Cuba\, which the US has imposed for over 60 years causing considerable hardship on the people of Cuba. In 2021 the US added the designation of Cuba as a “state sponsor of terrorism\,” a false charge that nonetheless leads to more sanctions. This year the UN will be voting on the US sanctions on Cuba on October 29. \nWe stand with the world. Join with the MN Cuba Committee\, Solidarity Committee on the Americas and others to protest this cruel unjust and illegal aggression against Cuba. \nCo-sponsored by MN Cuba Committee and SCOTA \n\n\n	Related

SUMMARY:Bannering: Take Cuba off the U. S. State Sponsors of Terrorism List!
DESCRIPTION:Thursday\, December 14\, 2023\, 3:30 pm\, corner of Lake St and Chicago Ave\, Mpls \nLocation on the corner of Lake Street and Chicago Avenue\, Minneapolis.Date and Time: Thursday\, December 14th starting 3:30 pm\nEvent initiated by: Solidarity Committee on the Americas and the MN Cuba Committee\n\n\nJoin the Solidarity Committee on the Americas and the MN Cuba Committee with signs and banners to:\nRemove Cuba from the listof the US State Sponsors of Terrorism\nMore than 10\,000 people and 100 progressive advocacy groups have signed an open letter urging President Joe Biden to reverse the Trump administration’s terrorism designation for Cuba and to reinstate Obama-era policy for the island.\nWe are committed to supporting Cuba building a peaceful and prosperous future. We oppose intervention in Cuba by the United States. One way to support a brighter future for Cuba is for us to take action against Cuba being on the US State Sponsor of Terrorism list.\nNine days before leaving office\, Trump designated Cuba a State Sponsor of Terrorism. Since 2021\, Biden has kept Cuba on the terrorism list. Ironically\, Cuba has been a victim of U.S. — based terrorism — not a sponsor of terrorism. There is no credible evidence to support the designation\, which is aimed to devastate Cuba’s economy by cutting it off from international credit and investment. By being on the list\, the resulting sanctions and international restrictions limit Cuba’s ability to purchase medicines for its population and to reboot its economy after the COVID pandemic. The Cuban people are the ones who suffer from these restrictions.\nPresident Biden can unilaterally remove Cuba from the United States list of state sponsors of terrorism by an executive order.\n\nCUBA OFF U.S. TERRORISM LIST!\nEND THE BLOCKADE OF CUBA\n\n\n\n	Related

SUMMARY:The Bombing of Cuban Flight 455 and Why it Matters Today
DESCRIPTION:Thursday\, October 5th @ 7 pm @ Blegen Hall\, Rm 155 \n269 19th Ave. S\, West Bank\, U of MN\, Mpls\n\nOn October 6\, 1976\, Cubana Flight 455 took off from Barbados en route to Jamaica. Two explosive devices placed on the airplane detonated\, and the plane was ripped apart and plummeted into the ocean below. Innocent men\, women\, and children lost their lives\, including the entire Cuban Olympic fencing team. A new informative and well-researched documentary\, Cubana 455\, details the ties between the CIA and Cuban exile terrorists. In this extraordinary documentary\, it is clear that the Cuban terrorists have no remorse and consider civilian deaths as only collateral damage in their campaign against Cuba. Join us to learn about this tragic event and to demand that the US State Department remove Cuba from the SSOT (State Sponsors of Terrorism) The presence of Cuba on this list is particularly outrageous because it has been a victim of terrorist acts over the past 60 years\, not a perpetrator of them.  Organized by Minnesota Cuba Committee.\nFacebook.\n\n\n	Related
